[edit]Foxtrot85, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- If you're interested in audio recordings, Audio Wikinews could always use more contributers
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! DragonFire1024 21:32, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikinews! Thanks for creating MP3 Players Sneak Up On Airwaves, we appreciate articles like this. This article appears to be what Wikinews calls original reporting. Wikinews articles must cite sources for all assertions they make. In the case of original reporting, you are the source. The way we usually deal with this is for you to place a comment on the article talk page, stating who you are, what your relationship is to the story you are covering, and describing the nature of the reporting (i.e. interviewing, taking notes, observing events, etc). You should also read Wikinews:Original reporting.
If you are intimately involved in the event being reported, it may be more appropriate for you to request an interview, rather than write an article.
Discussion about your article will occur on the article talk page. Please go there to participate in the discussion with other Wikinews contributors. Keep at it and try to get this article published, which can sometimes be difficult, but you will find that it is worth the effort.—FellowWikiNewsie (sign here!) 21:41, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. The image of the ipod that you uploaded is a copyrighted image from [1]. I have deleted it. There are plenty of ipod images at Wikimedia Commons. Just copy/paste the name of the image (e.g. Image:Example.jpg) to Wikinews. —FellowWikiNewsie (sign here!) 23:44, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- I understand your frustration with original reporting. You can reveal the information by emailing it to a site administrator of your choice (see WN:A), who will confirm that he/she has received the information on the article's talk page. It would indeed be advisable to scan your notes and submit them for our review, but I'm sure we can publish the article before you've had the time to do that.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 20:05, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- If, per Stevenfruitsmaak's comment above you need to email identifying information to an administrator to back up your story, my email address is brian@openvms-rocks.com and I am both an administrator and accredited reporter. Any personally identifying information you send will be kept in confidence, and all I'll do is detail that you've satisfactorily identified yourself on the article talk page. --Brian McNeil / talk 20:14, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
