User talk:HG1
Add topicFirst steps -- added a subdivision (religion) and some sources to wk:global networking, misc. Started looking for a first short story, but that may have to wait. Blum 02:50, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Welcome
[edit]HG1, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- Audio Wikinews could always use more contributors
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 12:16, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Christian social agency may lose state funding
[edit]I don't normally do this, but you are new and have expressed concern that your story might end up abandoned. I will try to work on your story for you and perhaps together we can get it published. The main problem, as I see it before I begin, is that it essentially is single-source the other sources are only used for background. You should browse around in WN:SG for help in writing articles. --SVTCobra 23:56, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, and I put nowiki around a section in your user-talk because otherwise your user-talk shows up in the categories. --SVTCobra 00:00, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- I finished my rewrite. You can see it here Kentucky faith-based agency under fire for religious coercion. I couldn't puplish yet. It needs a second independent source. I appealed for one on the talk page, but at least it is back in ready. --SVTCobra 02:21, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- It got published. But the Courier-Journal is still almost the singular source. Not sure what to do about that. --SVTCobra 03:56, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
