Welcome

[edit]

HenkvD, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! -- NGerda 18:49, August 21, 2005 (UTC)

Category pages

[edit]

We basically try to hide our category lists on Wikinews as they're useless - news does not list itself A-Z! So instead we use our topic/region pages, which use m:DynamicPageLists to list articles by time. Dan100 (Talk) 09:49, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

Just remember - this is a news service, not an encyclopedia :-). We do many things differently to Wikipedia here. Dan100 (Talk) 09:59, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

Portals

[edit]

Hi there, you will see there has been a lot of discussion about categories/portals on the Watercooler Technical section. It would be really good if you could contribute to that so it can move forward! 194.74.169.134 10:06, 22 August 2005 (UTC) Sorry, that was me ClareWhite 10:19, 22 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

On the front page when you click all reigons countries and topics, and the regoins/countries come up, I want to make Iran a portal....How do I do that? DragonFire1024 is Jason Safoutin 17:18, 17 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Interview to be translated

[edit]

You can translate any interview you wish, but the one I need translators for most urgently is the one we will be publishing on Monday. Since it's such a large interview, I'm moving pieces over right now so people can start now and go at their own pace instead of having to do a HUGE block on Monday. The link is Wikinews:Story preparation/Past Eurovision contestants give advice to this year's performers, speculate on who will win. So anyone who is interested can start a draft now. I'll leave a notice to that effect on the water cooler. Mike Halterman (talk) 13:46, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Interwikis to pages like Wikinews:2009/May/2

[edit]

Hi, your bot added interwikis to pages like Wikinews:2009/May/2. These interwikis for all days are shown on Wikinews:2009/May. See on Wikinews:2009/May/1 where you inserted interwikis noinclude tag correctly. HenkvD (talk) 09:45, 6 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, fixed now with onlyinclude tag. I apologize.--Bertrand GRONDIN (talk) 23:16, 6 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
I did some edit with my bot that I oversighted myself. I fixed the bot, with including <onlyinclude> tag. This made some edits that are immediately corrected by myself. Don't worry, these one are sighted and all mistakes are now corrected. Sorry for all desagrements. --Bertrand GRONDIN (talk) 23:47, 6 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
