Kevin Baas's suggestions

[edit]
  • right side:
    • switch order of "orginal reporting" and "sports reporting"
    • can the weather go above developing stories?
    • and latest wikinews media above the bot news?
    • in sum: current top, wikinews media, original reporting, sports, weather, possibly marketdata, (bot news), developing stories
    • can the right side be thinner?
    • i think "stories in development" should link to a workspace of sorts.
  • leads
    • more & bigger leads on the top. i think the main page should look more like a front page to a newspaper.
    • there is an advantage to "mosiac" organization rather than "blog" organization: it's organized in a way more fitting to what the info is: a mosiac of world events; an aggregation of disparate happenings. And it also draws the eye better. Also, we dont' want to look like a blog, or be assoicated w/ "bloginess", as blogs are opinonated, and we aren't. that is, it would damage wikinews' credibility.
    • fonts are a little squished. maybe 97% or 98%?
  • the news sections: make more clear.
    • put in boxes, of all the same size?
    • put a clear separator between by-topic and by-region.

I like!

I like the redesign... I still believe there should be a box showing say, the last 5 most recently {{publish}}ed stories. I suppose, basically part of the Latest News template. --Chiacomo (talk) 2 July 2005 05:50 (UTC)
