[edit]Phil-hong, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Style guide - how articles should look before publishing
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- Audio Wikinews could always use more contributors
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Jason Safoutin 01:55, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
Audio Wikinews
[edit]Great work with the Audio Wikinews briefs, I look forward to hearing more :) --Cspurrier 01:38, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Phil, what are your long-term plans with the audio briefs? I'm thinking about re-establishing the podcast, but before doing that want to know if the briefs have a reliable future... Dan100 (Talk) 08:10, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
MrM beat me to it (by about eight months) with the podcast. He's also set up a great system for updating it. I've done todays - do you think you could do the podcast updates in future? Dan100 (Talk) 11:27, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- BTW I've just listened to your 30 March release. I must say I'm really impressed! The pace and intonation are spot on, and that's not something easy to achieve (listen to some of the old recordings to hear what I mean). Well done, and keep it up!
- I've had a fiddle with the Audio pages to make them a bit more user-friendly and also put some RSS links on the Main Page to the podcast stream - let the good times roll! Dan100 (Talk) 12:38, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Great job on your releases. As it is Wikinews' policy to not claim attribution for our articles, we have a similar guideline on our audio releases to not mention our name in the recording. Of course, text attribution is fine. Keep up the great work, I really enjoy your briefs. Thanks! --MrMiscellanious (talk) – 02:51, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
