[edit]Pilchard, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- If you're interested in audio recordings, Audio Wikinews could always use more contributers
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!—FellowWikiNewsie 20:54, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
hope this is correct
[edit]Not sure if this is the correct place to get in touch with you. Thanks for adding the cricket scorecard template for IRL vs SRI. I created the blank page but did not know how to add the tables. I could have copied another finished table and blanked out all the text, but I guessed there is an empty template somewhere. Is that how you did it? Mr Splosh 15:03, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Cricket portal
[edit]One problem with the changes you've made is that any match between countries not listed will no longer appear on the portal. I note in the table matches involving Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands. --Brian McNeil / talk 18:39, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- If you have category= on three or four separate lines it will do an AND between all. Look at Portal:Africa, you have cat published, cat Africa, and cat Politics and conflicts. You could create a DPL for Africa-Europe political interactions just by adding category Europe. Sorry, I can never remember where the DPL documentation is. --Brian McNeil / talk 19:42, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, and if I remember correctly you can do notcatgory=, so you could build a DPL for Rest of the World that used category published, category Cricket, and notcategory= for each of the other countries. --Brian McNeil / talk 19:44, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Thanks for correcting my spelling and moving the page. If you like football it'd be nice to get some help revamping the Portal. Check my page for the replies, etc. Celticfan383 23:39, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tables! There's just a few contributors currently but I hope to get that number up. Celticfan383 16:19, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Football Result Template
[edit]Can you use Template:Footballbox when you add results to pages please. Celticfan383 16:49, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
West Indies vs Bangladesh
[edit]Oops. Anyway do whatever you like to do. Thanks for welcoming me. Bye. --Tarif Ezaz 14:26, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
United vs. Roma
[edit]The starting lineup and subs bench for AS Roma is not correct. It's still a merely a copy and paste of Barcelona's starting lineup. Kingjeff 00:26, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Can you help on working on the table? This is a massive table and a lot of people need to work on it. Kingjeff (talk) 01:28, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Pilchard. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Pilchard~enwikinews that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
