[edit]Torsten, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- If you're interested in audio recordings, Audio Wikinews could always use more contributers
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! — Doldrums(talk) 07:01, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
RN news article
[edit]So if someone's suprised by the arrival of a French aircraft carrier they kidnap British sailors? I'm not sure that's logical. There COULD be a link, but until it's directly suggested by a credible news source it is original research and so should not be included. Cueball 17:56, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Graphic in UK sailor abduction
[edit]Sorry if I was incorrect in how I labelled the picture. Its position in the article made it look as if it was for the prior incident we give background on. Since you know more on this than me (as the graphic creator) go ahead and clarify the caption and perhaps reposition the picture in the article.
Sorry for the mistake! As I say, it was down to where the graphic was placed in the article. Perhaps swap it with one of the earlier photos so it is attached to a more relevant paragraph. --Brian McNeil / talk 20:37, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Right ok for this, if this is what the image was based on at this time then this is fine. Thanks for the reply. --MarkTalk 21:20, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
