[edit]- Comment We judge on the basis of contributions to Wikinews projects; which would be ... ? --Brian McNeil / talk 00:11, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Unframe looks interesting....I was unfamiliar with it. It'd be awesome to have someone from the Ukraine reporting here at English WN....however, as is often the case, let me point something out: One can engage in loads of citizen journalism without having even a scrap of "official" credentialing. I like to say, "The news is always happening all around us; you just have to know how to reach out and get it!" Have you contributed here already? We like to accredit reporters who've already learned "the ropes" here at this project. You are an unknown quantity to us here (by-and-large). --Bddpaux (talk) 16:13, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Glad to hear that Unframe seems to be an interesting project for you, as long as it is a completely free initiative of us, photographers, engaged in the project and thus is close in spirits to Wikipedia as a whole, amnd Wikinews as its part. In this regard I'd like ta ask wether it would be better for me to continue (or better say attend to) contributing to Wikimedia as an individual author, or would it be an option for us to contribute as an initiative group (somehow this idea came to my mind). As for today my contributions are limited with photographic materials uploaed to Wikimedia archives (these include documentaries on latest events in Turkey and Ukraine), some of these were kindly engaged to Wikinews articles by authors, which fact cought my attention and so I'm here ready to develop our cooperation. As long as I'm engaged in professional photojournalism (as well as, social and medicine projects) for already seven years, I thought that application for accreditation could be a start for our cooperation. I would be truly appreciate your advice and make further steps towards engagement in Wikinews community.--Mstyslav Chernov (talk)
- I think you'd be a great collaboration partner and I like healthcare-related issues too! Considering that, however, I'm not quite sure you're ready for accreditation here. When any news organization accredits a reporter, that means they (the editorial board etc. etc.) places a great deal of trust in that person.....they trust how he gathers news, analyzes news, interacts with members of the general public, represents us as a project, etc. I'm not sure that you've "earned your stripes" here just yet. Have you read about "synthesis" articles yet? Doing one or two of those and also doing loads of old-fashioned copy editing on other peoples' stuff can REALLY help you a lot here. Additionally, let's clarify a few small items: First, this is Wikinews.....within the Wikimedia Foundation, each "project" (so-to-speak) stands on its own two feet....that may be worth remembering; thusly, English Wikinews has certain standards, a certain work-flow etc. etc. If you want to donate photos, images etc. that's fantastic. Put them up at Commons and leave a note here on my talk page.....we could do some great stuff! Also, however, this isn't Wikipedia.......each project (again) has its own policies, style and flow....so be patient with yourself and try to learn what goes on here. Give me a shout if I can help. --Bddpaux (talk) 20:28, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Glad to hear that! I'm certainly ready to attend to some editing work to begin with. I've made a basic research on copy editing within Wikimedia projects and specifically Wikinews, and it seems that all of the required information for the newcomers is available and clear (pages like Basic copyediting and WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors seem to have it all). So I,m ready to give it a try and in coming days will attend to the task. And, finally, As for my current documentary photos, these are available here, at my Commons gallery: User:Mstyslav_Chernov/gallery#Documentary. Thank you for your attention and advise, hopefully, one day we'll be able to attend to a project in collaboration. I'll keep in touch. --Mstyslav Chernov (talk)

- Comment Photography is, often, an area where accreditation can make a significant difference. Commons has issues in-terms of trying to manage any sort of accreditation for photographers; and, we've run into serious problems where we've extended trust and there's been a communications breakdown around that.
- The Wikinewsie Group (TWG) is now 'recognised', and I'd expect the way we move forward on accreditation is for the group to vet/validate accreditation policies from different-language editions of Wikinews. In this case, I'm not sure what is the best option at the moment. --Brian McNeil / talk 17:14, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- Oppose Not at this time. He and I have chatted a bit here and also in the comments section above. He, as many others do, has seemingly jumped at wanting accreditation without having contributed much here and also with the idea (ostensibly) that one must have accreditation to engage in journalism. I've found his responses to be humble and he's MOST ASSUREDLY dumped a massive amount of photos over at Commons!! (I shall be looking into those in more depth soon!!) I think we've got ourselves a decent potential collaborator/contributor here. Let's see if he stays within the flow for awhile and we can talk about accred. later....okey-dokey? --Bddpaux (talk) 15:23, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Not yet, I think Bddpaux's hit the nail on the head here. I see a lot of promise. BRS (Talk) (Contribs) 16:49, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
