Libby says Bush authorized NIE leaks
According to papers filed in U.S. Federal Court by Patrick Fitzgerald on Wednesday, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's former Chief of Staff, has told investigators that he was authorized by President Bush to divulge to reporters information from the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on Saddam Hussein's efforts to develop nuclear weapons.

Apple unveils "Boot Camp" allowing Windows to work on Macs
Apple unveiled today a new program called "Boot Camp" which will allow Macintosh users to switch between running Mac OS X and Windows on start-up of their Intel-based Macintosh computer. Shares of the company rose roughly 7% in response to the news.

The Japanese Cherry Blossoms have again bloomed around the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. and a city along with thousands of visitors mark the beginning of Spring with their arrival. The accompanying National Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual celebration, commemorating the March 27, 1912, gift to the city of 3,000 Japanese cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo.

Men pose as police on Australian freeway, commit assault and robbery
New South Wales police have arrested and charged a man after an attack on the Sydney-Newcastle Freeway north of Sydney.

On Thursday, a 28-year-old man handed himself in to police at Toukley. He was arrested and questioned by detectives before being charged with robbery in company, aggravated kidnapping, and driving whilst disqualified.

Police are still searching for the other two men involved in the attack.


Blair, Ahern unveil plan for Northern Ireland devolution
British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his Irish counterpart Bertie Ahern have unveiled their plan to restore a power-sharing executive goverment in Northern Ireland by a deadline of November 24.

The plan calls for the Northern Ireland Assembly's members to be recalled on May 15 and given six weeks to form an executive. If no results comes within six weeks, then the members are to be given another 12 weeks to attempt to form an executive. After that, if no result is achieved by November 24, then the salaries of all members will be suspended, and the Irish government will be given greater influence in Northern Ireland.

The Assembly has been suspended since October 2002 following the allegation of the existence of a republican spy ring.

Ship sinks off Djibouti, killing at least 109
A ship carrying passengers bound for a religious festival sank off the coast of Djibouti on Thursday. 109 people are reported dead, 20 reported missing, and 36 people are injured. The boat, designed to carry 80 people, was said to have been carrying 200 people when it sank. It is believed that the overload contributed to the accident.


Electronic Frontier Foundation files motion to stop AT&T from forwarding Internet traffic to NSA
The California-based non-profit organization Electronic Frontier Foundation filed a motion on Wednesday alleging that AT&T has been illegally forwarding Internet traffic to the U.S. National Security Agency. EFF’s motion alleges that AT&T is violating federal wiretapping laws and threatening U.S. citizens’ right to privacy.


Honolulu man dies after fall into sewage-contaminated harbor
A Honolulu man died Thursday, one week after falling into the sewage-contaminated Ala Wai Yacht Harbor in Waikiki. Oliver Johnson had reportedly fallen into the harbor during a fight and contracted a flesh-eating bacterial infection that lead to massive organ failure and the loss of one of his legs. Honolulu police and state health officials are investigating.
