Six members of the ISAF killed in southern Afganistan

Six soldiers with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed today. Their vehicle was struck by a road-side bomb in southern Afghanistan. ISAF did not release the names or nationalities of the casualties nor the exact location of the incident.

The ISAF is led by NATO and made up of troops from 37 countries.

Hamas proposes prisoner exchange with Israel

Hamas has submitted a list of prisoners that it wants to exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. According to reports Israel is reviewing the list, seen as a sign of progress in the 10-month standoff.

Shalit was captured on June 25, 2006, at an Israeli army post on the southern Gaza Strip border, when Palestinian militants tunneled under the border. Two other Israeli soldiers were killed in the raid.
