I did most of these, excepting two articles where, afaict, the only connection is that a fired Manager's last game had been against VfL Wolfsburg.

@Pi zero: For the first article about M'Gladbach, Hecking was former coach of Wolfsburg, and the article speaks about his accomplishments with the Wolfsburg club. So I think it is perfectly okay for adding the category to that article. For the other one, Klopp's article mentions his last match as Dortmund manager was against Wolfsburg (VfL Wolfsburg wins first DFB Pokal; my fifth article to be deleted) I think the connection is not that strong. If I had chosen to mention the score, it would have been okay. It is border case, but has some importance. It is up to you then. (But we add categories of the manager's former club when they join a new one, see Guardiola to replace Pellegrini as Manchester City manager and Jürgen Klopp signs 3 year contract with Liverpool)

@Acagastya: I had missed the stronger connections to Wolfsburg in the Gladbach article; have added that one. In the Klopp article, we're agreed it's a weaker connection. I wouldn't have thought merely mentioning the score would make the difference on the Klopp article; my reasoning there is that (1) the match was about five months prior to the focal event of the article, and (2) we aren't led to believe that there was a substantial causal connection between that match and the focal event, such as that match causing him to be let go from Borussia Dortmund. --Pi zero (talk) 12:40, 24 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
