Jesse Boulerice made his return to the Flyers lineup after a 25 game suspension for cross checking Vancouver Canucks center Ryan Kesler in the head on October 10, 2007. Derek Roy started the scoring for Buffalo to give them a 1-0 lead. Clarke MacArthur scored 11 seconds later to give the Sabres a 2-0 lead. Jason Pominville gave the Sabres a three goal lead over the Flyers 14:16 into the first period. A goal by Jeff Carter put Philadelphia on the board 17 seconds later. Scott Hartnell scored to make it a one goal game going into the first intermission. The score stayed that way until R.J. Umberger beat goaltender Ryan Miller to tie the score and send it to a shootout. Former Sabre Daniel Briere made the decisive shootout goal, giving the Flyers their first win since February 5.

Mats Sundin scored the first goal of the game for Toronto, just a day after announcing he would not waive his no-trade clause. In the second period, Toronto lit the lamp 4 times. First, Darcy Tucker scored a power play goal. Then, Pavel Kubina scored his 6th goal of the season. Tucker scored his second power play goal of the night moments later. Dominic Moore scored to give the Leafs a 5 goal lead against the Senators. Matt Stajan and Tucker each had 3 points. Jason Blake had a pair of assists for Toronto as well. Vesa Toskala stopped all of Ottawa's 31 shots, and earned his third shutout.

Other news

Peter Forsberg signed a contract with the Colorado Avalanche to play the rest of this season. Forsberg played 12 seasons in the NHL, making his debut for the Quebec Nordiques in 1994, and stayed with the franchise for 8 seasons after they became the Avalanche in 1995.

Darren McCarty signed a 1 year contract with the Detroit Red Wings. McCarty played 11 seasons with the Wings, from 1993-2004, and most recently played for the Calgary Flames from 2005-2007.

Barret Jackman signed a 4 year contract extension with the St. Louis Blues. Jackman, a defenseman, has 8 points this season.

The Tampa Bay Lightning traded left winger Vaclav Prospal to Philadelphia in exchange for defenseman Alexandre Picard and a 2nd or 3rd round pick in the 2009 Entry Draft. Tampa Bay also signed defensemen Dan Boyle to a six-year contract extension.
