Per Johan Axelsson broke a scoreless tie 4:24 into the second period for the Bruins. Marco Sturm scored a power play goal a few minutes later to put Boston up by two goals. Shane Hnidy added a shorthanded goal early in the third period, and David Krejci scored to make it 4-0 with under a minute left in regulation. Tim Thomas made 34 saves and earned his third shutout of the season.

In the second period, Stu Barnes scored 16 seconds after the opening faceoff. Brenden Morrow scored a power play goal at 6:15, and then Loui Eriksson scored a pair of goals to put the stars up by 4 goals. Jere Lehtinen scored 4:26 into the third period, and Niklas Hagman made the score 7-1 with under 5 minutes left in the game. Mike Cammalleri scored a goal for Los Angeles with 2:58 left in the third period. Marty Turco only faced 14 shots the entire night from the Kings. He made 12 saves and earned his 31st win of the season.

Player of the Day
Today's Player of the Day is Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins. Thomas made 34 saves between the pipes and shut out the Ottawa Senators. It was his third shutout of the season, and the 7th of his NHL career.
