Journalist notes[edit]

This was based off the score leading sheet and the results. The total scoring was based on the day five results, which were accurate as of this morning. --LauraHale (talk) 08:25, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm guessing the score leading sheet and the results are the ones listed in the sources section? If that is the case, I'd be inclined to fail this article as single source. --RockerballAustralia c 09:05, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The score sheets are from the tournament organizers. This isn't a case of needing two independent sources for verification. Similar score sheets by tournament organizers have been used repeatedly for this style of original reporting. --LauraHale (talk) 09:09, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I too am concerned about single-source-ness here. The deaf swimming one had various peripheral stuff from other sources and was helped along a bit by some nontrivial data extraction, supporting the claim of OR; though, as I remarked this morning on its talk page, I was still concerned about the question.   • This is solid synthesis. I don't feel it's OR, though... although it's a bit tricky to explain how that relates to the multi-source requirement in this case. (The deaf swimming one was pretty marginal in this regard, too, and the issues involved are similar.) I'm not satisfied with my ability to explain the interplay of these factors; still struggling to deal with articles one-by-one, trying to reconcile basic principles and avoid sliding down any slippery slopes while we seek enlightenment. (After years, we've finally got a fairly decent write-up on newsworthiness, and the WN:NPOV page is still awful; unsurprising we've not yet got a crystal clear articulation on the organic functions of the multi-source requirement and how they relate to the grey area between synthesis and OR.)
