Notes on original reporting

[edit]

The original reporting for this article consists of confirming that that planned participation of scientists (as reported in the May 16 Hartford Courant article) indeed happened, as well as minor details of the protests supported by the photographs. I was there from about 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and spoke to scientists, anti-war protesters, and counter-protesters, but took no written notes.--Ragesoss 03:56, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Coast Guard Academy Protests

[edit]

In the article describing the protests, the reporter said that the anti-war protesters were mainly protesting to bring the troops home. I was there and it seemed to me that there were several themes going. They had speakers from a hispanic rights group, a socialists group, a palistinian rights group among others. The groups that I saw on the anti-war protester side included The Raging Grannies, Code Pink, Black Block (anarchists)C.O.W. I also saw flags of Che Guevera, The UN, The Rainbow Coalition among others. My point is that there were a number of groups that did not seem to care about the war one way or the other, they just wanted to make their point. JP
