[inserted from Talk:Evangelist Jerry Falwell dies at age 73]

There is another article like this: Televangelist Jerry Falwell dies at 73 ~~ Vagish [wp] [wn] 18:56, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have deleted the other one - this is better. --MarkTalk 18:59, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Obituary?[edit]

Much like the Reports: Taliban leader Mullah Dadullah killed in Afghanistan story, I don't think this qualifies as an obituary. An obituary usually gives a much fuller account of the life and times of the deceased. --SVTCobra 00:03, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think we need a category for deaths in general, and this is the suitable one, although the title isn't perfect.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 12:03, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A dead person is a dead person. Obituaries are about a person dying, informational or not...IMO.DragonFire1024 12:06, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • A notice of a person's death usually with a short biographical account.

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/obituaries. Also see obituaries

Mabie we should create Category:Deaths for articles that arn't obituaries as quoted above? Or we could just forget about it... FellowWikiNewsie 00:43, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am leaning toward "fuggitaboutit". Our Category:Obituaries is littered with items that I personally wouldn't call obituraries. But, whatever. --SVTCobra 01:07, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jerry Falwell - dead or killed?[edit]

The current byline for the Jerry Falwell story reads a little oddly - it gives the impression that he died because he was found unresponsive by Ron Godwin. "Found unresponsive" has a lot of different possible meanings - when I first read it, I thought maybe Ron had murdered him because he failed to respond to an email or something(!)202.20.20.129 06:19, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested edit[edit]

The article is in Category:Creationism. While Falwell was a creationist (he had [[w:Young Earth Creationism|YEC sympathies, and may have even been a YEC), it was not an important part of his preaching and ministry. The article on him in Wikipedia does not mention creationism, nor does this obituary. It therefore seems unhelpful to put the article in the creationism category.
