I have spoken to a number of people who I know have Vodafone services who report they are having issues in NSW. I also called Vodafone and spoke to Ahmed Mazloum.

((WN)) "Hi, I am Nathan Carter, a writer who publishes his work on Wikinews. Can you provide us with information about the network outage in New South Wales?"

• Ahmed Mazloum: "What would you like to know about it?"

((WN)) "What is the cause of the problem and how many customers are affected?"

• Ahmed Mazloum: "We have commenced switching on 3G on the network and this has caused an unforeseen issue with around ninety percent of the network in New South Wales".

((WN)) "Has this issue been occurring since early today?"

• Ahmed Mazloum: "I am not sure of that".

((WN)) "Is there an estimated time when things should be back to normal?"

• Ahmed Mazloum:"We are aware customers may be frustrated with their lack of service, but they can be assured that Vodafone will be working around the clock until services are returned to normal".

((WN)) "Thankyou for your time"
