Is there any reason this template does not include the line 'addfirstcategorydate=true' to display article publication dates?--CSJJ104 (talk) 15:19, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

There's a lot of inconsistency in formatting of the infoboxen. The concern on addfirstcategorydate is, I think, that it'd take up a lot of the rather limited real estate on an infobox. I guess I'd be more inclined to include dates as the entries are hard for a reader to assess properly without knowing the dates, but I've never made infobox reform a priority — though I've thought about it. It'd be really cool to have a single infobox that one could parameterize by a category name, and have it look for customizations associated with that particular category with an acceptable default format when no customizations have been registered; but to even start that one ought to first survey all the existing infoboxen to understand the range of what's already in place, and then consider what should be standardized and what should be left customizable, as well as technically how to register customizations. --Pi zero (talk) 15:45, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
