University of North Carolina wins 2005 basketball tournament

The University of North Carolina Tar Heels won the 2005 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Men's Basketball Championship Title in the U.S. National college Basketball tournament, beating the University of Illinois Fighting Illini by 75 points to 70. This tournament is sometimes referred to as March Madness. The final championship game was played on the evening of April 4, 2005 at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Missouri.
