On the review queue[edit]

I have a hard time explaining this to a newbie whenever I try to, but what I'm trying to say is I appreciate your enthusiasm and copious free time to write, but I have to warn you Wikinews is...rather deprived of contributors — I'm the only one who's reviewed in days, and that's not unusual, so submitting multiple articles to the review queue at once does pose the risk of some going stale. It's not prohibited, but it can be a bad idea depending on how much effort you would lose if some went stale, which happens to all of us. Heavy Water (talk) 19:44, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'm planning to do some WN:OR in a few weeks, but as far as I'm aware that kind of thing has a much longer shelf life. It's going to be an interview with the creator of Include Mx, which I think should turn out quite well. Asheiou (talk) 22:54, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Cats[edit]

When creating cats, please add the links to whatever sister projects have a relevant page (which can often be found through Wikidata, though Wiktionary is never on Wikidata), add the cat to Wikidata, use a recent image, and create a mainspace redirect, like West Midlands (county), so it can be easily linked to from mainspace.
And note we don't have the concept of a "primary topic" like en.wp does, so we would use a disambiguation (create Template:Mainspace disambig/[PAGENAME] and transclude it onto the disambiguation page and add __DISAMBIG__) if there are at least two cats or potential future cats by a name. Indeed, what Heavy Water says is helpful. Wikinews does not have many active administrators, so any help is appreciated in making our 'jobs' easier. It may not have been mentioned before, but our rule-of-thumb is three articles (published) before a category it justified. So don't go on the notion of 'notability' you may have gleaned from Wikipedia. Wikinews has a slightly different standard. SVTCobra 01:35, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

These have already been uploaded to commons :) I have taken one of them and put it on the article.
