tsunami story[edit]

hi, thanks for ur work on the indonesia tsunami article. i do want to point out though, that updates to an ongoing event shld be done by creating new articles rather than updating old published articles.

I was trying to give you a bit of encouragement with the above comment. It may seem like a small change, but it is the sum of all the small changes which makes the wiki what it is. single source articles[edit]

hi, appreciate ur contributions to wikinews. i notice that a couple of articles u wrote, eg Tube train evacuated after a landslide in west London, are based on only a single source. this is not a good idea, as multiple independent sources serve as one means of confirming details of the news event, and also reduced the possibility of a copyright violation (keep in mind, in many cases, a rewrite of a copyrighted article is also a copyright violation, collating the content from many different sources is not). the Wikinews:Content guide also says

To help guard against possible mistakes by news sources and to help establish a neutral point of view, editors are encouraged to find multiple sources on an issue, and fact-check those sources.

Your question on main page talk[edit]

You asked if you can re-order the stories on the main page. Well you sort of can depending what you mean by that. If you wanted to change what day its on, thats controlled by the {{date|month day, year}} on each article (However you should go about making sure that it would be the right course of action to change this date before actually doing it). If you wanted to change it so its going in an ascending order instead of decending order just for yourself, that can sorta be done. Can you be a bit more specific? In short, its possible, but very impractical. To do this, you'd proabbly have to go back to manual updating the main page, which is a hassal, and just makes everything more complicated (As well as being more fun for the vandals as less of the main page would be protected, and in theory they could vandalize it quite easily now, its less known now then it would be) (See WN:DPL for more information on how they're ordered currently).
