Wikinews:Accreditation requests
From Wikinews, the free news source you can write!
To file a request for credentials or for revocation, please read over the Accreditation policy first. You can also view the accredited users list.
If you would like to receive official Wikinews credentials, please file a request below in the form. After the posting, the user's entry will solicit Support/Object votes from Wikinews users for the duration of 7 days for accreditation and 14 for revocation. At the expiration of this time period the user will either be granted accreditation, or the vote removed from this page and archived. In the case of revocation a case may be closed early, but no earlier than 7 days, when there is overwhelming consensus.
Copy and paste the following onto the bottom of the Requests section and fill in the sections if you desire to apply for Accreditation.
===[[User:YourUsername|YourUsername]]===
- Name: Your real name
- Location: Your geographical location, for listing purposes
- Areas of interest: Areas of coverage you are interested in
- Reason: Some reasons why you would like to receive Wikinews credentials
- Accomplishments: Links to some articles you've written
- Contact information: What contact information you would like to have listed on the Credential verification page, please don't put an @wikinewsie email address. You will only get one if you have been approved accreditation.
- User ID: Can be found by clicking "Preferences"
- Applied on: ~~~~~
Note: When archiving requests use {{closed-ar-box|successful or failed}} then type {{closed-ar-footer}}. It is recommended that requests are only moved to the archive when the @wikinewsie has been created and when the user is listed at accredited users.
Upon successful accreditation
Once accredited, you can get a personal email address on Wikinewsie. Please contact user Brian McNeil about this, your email address will be made up based on the details given when applying - if you have a middle name and you feel having this in the address (or its initial) is important, please say so. You must either provide an existing email address for the password to be sent to, or have enabled email from your en.wikinews account and specify this as the preferred contact method. For further information, see this page on Wikinewsie. Requests for an email address must be verifiable - either submit via 'email this user', or signed, and on Brian McNeil's talk page.

[edit] AlexandrDmitri
- Name: Jonathan Alexandr Ledbury-Romanov (name used on official documents, full legal name Jonathan Alexandr Dmitri Sébastien Alois Ledbury-Romanov)
- Location: Rabat, Morocco
- Areas of interest: Politics, conflicts, crime, law, economy, business, health, human rights, Middle East, Africa, Europe
- Reason: I have been active over the past month writing over thiry articles and reviewing others in most of the above areas of interest. I am interested in getting into original reporting, hence the request for accreditation, as there are some subjects that I would like to get into in greater depth: human rights and health are the two that spring spontaneously to mind.
- Accomplishments: first ten articles, articles eleven to twenty, articles 21-30 and the most recent. If I had to pick two, they would be Zambian "porn" journalist found not guilty and Two Azerbaijani bloggers jailed because they concern free speech.

[edit] Sjc
- Name: Steve Callaway
- Location: Plymouth, Devon, UK
- Areas of interest: Politics, culture, arts, sociology, history
- Reason: I have been engaged with various Wiki projects from very much the outset and sporadically with Wikinews. This is likely to change as much of the landscape of my original area of concern, en.Wikipedia, is stabilising, or has already full stabilised, and it is time to move on: Wikinews seems a sensible new focus. It is likely that I will be doing some original reporting and accreditation would be a useful adjunct to that end. I should also add that I am likely to be dormant for the time being while I work on the WikiMedia/Strategy task force which has a deadline delivery date of January 12.
- Accomplishments: (recently) Three more scientists resign from UK ACMD drugs advisory council & Political fallout from the sacking of Professor David Nutt gathers momentum

Weak support I would have preferred a few more contributions/articles, but his current work is good and solid. Tempodivalse [talk] 18:32, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Revocations
Remember: For requests for revoking credentials, "support" or "revoke" means "remove accreditation," and "oppose" means "keep accreditation."
Please note that only accredited reporters who have misused their credentials granted to them (as can be proved through concrete evidence) may be listed here.
