Creating category[edit]

Not sure if this is the correct procedure for creating a category, but here it is.

Ideally I was seeking a category that would cover all unrest in Libya since the 2011 rebellion, but could not think of a suitable name for such an article that would be broad enough to cover it, but specific enough for a category. 'Post rebellion Libyan unrest' perhaps?

Articles which would be covered in 2014 Libyan conflict include:

Articles which would be covered in a broader category about Libyan unrest since the rebellion include:

And possibly others I am less sure about. I am happy with the category as it is now, as it would seem difficult to include events before 2014. CSJJ104 (talk) 13:03, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This seems reasonable to me. Only likely difficulty I see has also arisen with other such categories in the past, and I don't know that we've really developed a good way to handle it yet: if the conflict continues into 2015, then what do we do about the category name? --Pi zero (talk) 14:32, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Could a category about the conflict be created and this included as a subcategory? CSJJ104 (talk) 10:04, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
But what would one call the parent category? This conflict is distinguished from other conflicts in Libya primarily by when it's happening. --Pi zero (talk) 10:13, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies[edit]

Apologies, I had not realised removing the developing template would automatically create the category. Sorry CSJJ104 (talk) 13:14, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Categories work the same across all wikis; well, at least in that renaming them requires editing every article in the category. {{developing}} only really applies in the main namespace where timeliness is far more-important. The number of changes needed to rename the category is readily-manageable right now; plus, there's four months to come up with a more-encompassing name, and to better-define the inclusion criteria. --Brian McNeil / talk 14:45, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
