Thailand not listed. Help?
[edit]- When I did the Thai media mogul drops newspaper takeover attempt story earlier I had to do some fiddling to get Thailand's category okay. I didn't achieve my goal of getting the country listed under the Asia category. Can someone sort this and let me know what little trick I missed? Brianmc 20:25, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
- Thailand is listed under Category:Asia if you click the "(next 200)" link under subcategories. --Chiacomo (talk) 20:31, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]I've been looking at the other continent categories, how do I tidy up the section under the latest stories list for categories? I'd like to remove the next/prev and complete list of stories. I've been looking at the Category:Australia one and would like to more closely follow it. Brianmc 08:40, 28 October 2005 (UTC)
Asia is TOO BIG for a Category
[edit]Asia needs to be broken up into categories that let people better understand.
Central Asia East Asia Southeast Asia South Asia North Asia West Asia Australia Islands South Pacific Islands North Pacific 69.117.138.119 (talk) 00:13, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- We have several very high-use categories. That's not inherently bad. Creating subregions would produce needless bureaucracy and arguments over the precise definitions of their boundaries; replacing this news region with them, as you propose, poses the same problems and removes this category for no reason. Instead, we have chosen to only subdivide news regions by country, with exceptions like Category:Korean Peninsula where the subregion is easily defined. Also, note we classify Australia and other Pacific islands as part of our Oceania news region. Heavy Water (talk) 01:29, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
