There are very few headlines on the main page. Yet, a car crash in Birmingham made it on there.
This is notable for the 8 people injured as well as those close to them and their medical staff, it would also be of minor interest to the Birmingham traffic news.
It is however NOT notable or appropriate for world news, a world with 7,000,000,000+ inhabitants(within the species that reads alone) and a massive volume of events both important and notable.
If an article about traffic accidents is to be displayed on the main page, it should at least provide information on all traffic accidents of a day or more.
Or a very very good reason why this one is so special.
7,000,000,000+, something of interest has certainly happened and alot of people have fared worse today.
Though horror and drama should not be decisive, since the greatest thing wikinews could do would be to provide relevant and important information without sensationalism. And without bias.
This article is irrelevant, indignified and inane, at best it's a waste of space at worst a distraction from important events. And it is wasting the credibility and notability of a newsforum that has the potential to provide a vital service.
If this article needs to be writen, and i don't see why, it needs to be put in an appropriately insignificant place.
This critisism is applicable to many articles.
I agree completely. this is not newsworthy, there are lots of other things that we'd like to read about.
This is a project reliant on volunteer contributions, thus that which volunteers choose to write articles on is what is going to end up published.
