Should politics be left to politicians?

Looks like Jean is following in Schwarzenegger's footsteps as an entertainer making a move into politics. Should they just stay out of it or is it a good thing that gets people involved and interested in politics? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:30, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Before Schwarzenegger was Ronald Reagan. Guardianstatue (talk) 05:28, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Some professions (such as law and public relations) seem to be over-represented in politics. So when people change careers to get into politics, I think it is good for democracy. InfantGorilla (talk) 05:46, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Surely that's because those professions are inextricably linked to politics, but rapper to head of state is quite a leap. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:11, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Uh oh! That's what I meant. Too many lawyers and political experts.
So, let's have more doctors, engineers, athletes, musicians and teachers and mechanics in elected office. InfantGorilla (talk) 19:46, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
There's Sebastian Coe, too, who was an Olympic medalist in the 80s before becoming a Member of Parliament in the 90s. Matthewedwards (talk) 14:39, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
A rapper as president? I'm sure he has a lot of support but as charitable as he may seem towards Haitians, I'm sure he knows very little about Haitian politics or how to run any government at all. If I was Haitian, I would much prefer someone with real experience. Sampi (talk) 17:37, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well Arny seems to have done a reasonable job of running California and you wouldn't have thought The Terminator would be the best candidate for that job! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:49, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
He's doing OK, but he just isn't that great of a negotiator... 68.6.124.171 (talk) 19:29, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
He hasn't done that well. Finances are at their worst, Section 8 and EBT claims are the highest they've ever been and the systems are being abused. You can't go into any state government building on most Fridays because they're closed due to budget cuts. And state employees have been getting paid with "IOU"s. Matthewedwards (talk) 20:06, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
anybody with a better sense of humanity should be given the chance to run for any office regardless of his/her former career and place of birth, so and so forth. as i know the people of Haiti want to use rogue Constitution to disqualify jean not to run for the president office. It is high time the people of this generation reject such rogue declaration. 41.190.90.50 (talk) 22:55, 3 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Being a celebrity should not restrict you from getting into politics. The real question should be: Is this person the best candidate [best chance of improving society]? 99.246.4.129 (talk) 18:57, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

~Comatose, 'entertained-to-death' humans must wake up and learn how to defend themselves from their worst enemies {not your fellow human beings}, and have a real, natural, life for the 1st time in a century, learning what real love is {Agapeo, phileo, eros} and that it isn't applied to lower life forms {flora & fauna} or possessions/material things that have no soul, but for The Maker of All Things [GOD] and each other, equally~
