59-year-old Sarri has spent thirteen years as a football coach, and most recently he was at Italian club SSC Napoli. Sarri spent three seasons with Napoli, guiding the Naples club to a second-place finish in the Italian Serie A twice, and a third place finish once.

On signing the three-year contract with Chelsea, Sarri said, "I am very happy to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League. It is an exciting new period in my career." The Italian went on to say, "I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans, and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves."

On Friday, Chelsea announced sacking Sarri's predecessor, Antonio Conte, after two year's of service at Stamford Bridge. Conte led Chelsea to Premier League title in his first season and The FA Cup, last season.

In May, Napoli announced Carlo Ancelotti as Sarri's successor at the Naples club. With Sarri's arrival at Chelsea, The Blues announced signing Brazilian midfielder Jorginho from Napoli on a five-year contract.

Since the takeover of Chelsea by Russian businessman Roman Abramovich in 2003, Chelsea has now had thirteen permanent managers.
