Comments by reviewer: The dates for the sources are not formatted consistently. The image is not credited. There are minor niggling grammatical errors that I could fix but with the queue, it would be nicer if someone else could give this a good copyedit. "The reason of the attack is unknown"? Who says the cause is unknown? Newspaper sources? The government? The last paragraph doesn't seem to connect. (The capitalization issues make this worse.) The where should be more apparent in this article and probably be at the front of the lead instead of at the end of the last paragraph because few people will known who Hayrikyan is (and that the attack was by an unknown person as the first part further buries it). Questions about the above? Ask. If possible, please address the above issues then resubmit the article for another review (by replacing {{tasks}} in the article with {{review}}). This talk page will be updated with subsequent reviews. |

Главная цель покушения на кандидата в президенты Армении, лидера Объединения "Национальное самоопределение" Паруйра Айрикяна, совершенное вечером 31 января, - отсрочка назначенных на 18 февраля президентских выборов. Такое мнение выразил на пресс-конференции 1 февраля армянский политолог Сергей Шакарянц, комментируя данный инцидент, передает корреспондент ИА REGNUM.
- Main goal of the attack on presidential candidate, <where, when>, is to delay presidential elections planned for February 28. This opinion was expressed at a February 1 press-conference by an Armenian political scientist Sergei Shakaryants when commenting on this incident, REGNUM correspondent says.
Как известно, 31 января в 23:20 перед домом номер 9 на улице Тпагричнери г. Еревана неизвестный выстрелил в Айрикяна, причинив ему огнестрельное ранение в правое плечо. По факту возбуждено уголовное дело по признакам 34-305 статьи УК Армении (покушение на убийство государственного, политического или общественного деятеля). Следствие ведет следственное управление СНБ Армении. Состояние Айрикяна оценивается как стабильное, средней тяжести.

Как считает политолог, несмотря на версии случившегося, которые будут выдвигаться, и показания самого Айрикяна, факт случившегося говорит о том, что данный шаг был направлен на отсрочку выборов, причиной для чего может послужить состояние здоровья одного из кандидатов, то есть Айрикяна.
- As the political scientist says, despite on proposed versiona and victim statements, the fact of what happened speaks about that this step was aimed to delay elections for candidate health reasons.
Покушение, как отмечает Шакарянц, направлено не против Айрикяна или его участия в выборах, а против самих выборов. В данном контексте он подчеркнул, что от того, участвует Айрикян в выборах или нет, их сущность не меняется, в связи с чем вопрос о возможной "ликвидации сильного конкурента" здесь не стоит.
- The attack, Shakaryants says, is not against the victim or his participation in election -- but rather, against the elections themselves. In this contet he emphasised that whether thte victim participates in the elections or not wouldn't affect their essense -- so the question of "remove the strongest candidate" is not taking place.
По его мнению, возможно, что внутри страны или за ее пределами есть силы, стремящиеся приблизить предстоящие выборы к 1 марта, напомнив всем о беспорядках, начавшихся в стране после первого избрания Сержа Саргсяна на должность президента республики в 2008 году.
- In his view, it is possible, that in or out of the country, some things aim to make the elections closed to march 1 to remind everyone of the troubles which began in the country after electing Sargsyan as a president in 1008.

"По крайней мере, возможность переноса выборов предусмотрена законодательством, если Паруйр Арикян не сможет продолжить предвыборную гонку", - отметил Абрамян. Он посчитал, что покушение направлено не только против Айрикяна, но и против президентских выборов и всей армянской государственности.
