I'm a bit concerned about this article as it has identical and very similar paragraphs to the sources and other articles on Google news. The first sentence seem to be distinct or nearly distinct. The rest, para-by-para:

I am quite new to all this and apologise for having caused an issue.

I have rewritten the report and hope that it is now OK

I had understood that matters of fact - such as what people said - were not copyrighted. Hence my use of verbatims. Obviously I am still confused about this.

some useful things to remember while writing an article

• use multiple sources to gather information
• write that information in your own words
• verbatim copying of quotes, and only quotes is ok. if the quote is made exclusively to one news source, then attribute it in text - eg. "Speaking to the Washington Post, Goofy said, 'I never smoked pot. Ever.'" if the quote was made in a public forum, in-text attribution is not needed.
• the organisation of the information and the expression of the ideas in a wikinews article shld not closely follow that of any of the sources.
