Here's an interesting editorial from Japan Today, about the Japanese being unsure what is going on:

I won't add it to the article, because it isn't news reporting, (it's only their opinion) but it's interesting to read some of the thinking from the Japan side of this conflict.
From the editorial: "nothing like this would be allowed without the implicit consent of the authorities". How interesting that the journalists talking to the BBC, speaking out from under a byline, are saying the same thing. — DV 00:44, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
