'Critical care' instead of 'essential care'[edit]

{{Editprotected}} Please, review the following sentence:"....Aneurin Bevan Local Health Board had the highest amount of essential care patients in Wales." 'Critical care'- and not essential care - is correct in this case too.

Thanks a lot in advance!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.201.37.233 (talkcontribs)

It's my understanding that "critical care" and "essential care" have technical meanings, and they're different. This looks like yet another example of trying to avoid copyvio by use of "synonyms" (as if that would avoid copyvio even if it didn't result in misstatements and poor grammar and usage). --Pi zero (talk) 17:26, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Here the abstracts from the 2 sources of the article: 1)"Aneurin Bevan Health Board, which covers the former Gwent trust area, reported the most number of critical care admissions, 12, closely followed by Betsi Cadwaladr health board in north Wales which saw 11 admissions." from 'BBC News on line';

2)"Aneurin Bevan Health Board, which covers Gwent, said it had 12 patients with flu-like symptoms in critical care, the highest of any health board in Wales, while Betsi Cadwaladwr UHB closely followed with 11 patients in a critical condition." from Media Wales.

Therefore the use of "essential" - instead of "critical"- in the sentence "With twelve reported admissions, Aneurin Bevan Local Health Board had the highest amount of essential care patients in Wales." would sound strange.

Thanks a lot!217.201.168.96 (talk) 18:32, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
