Original journalism[edit]

I walked from Waterloo up to Aldwych just after 2pm (because no buses from Waterloo across Waterloo Bridge), took some photos on the bridge and where the Aldwych was taped off. I saw various emergency service personnel in attendance, although noone particularly active at ground level. I skirted round on the terrace on the river side of Somerset House then up through Kings, took some more photos, and looked at some of the depot names on the side of the fire engines. The church of St Mary-le-Strand is in the middle of the road nearby, right by King's College and Somerset House, as a map will confirm. Bencherlite (talk) 14:34, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

More later reporting

I walked back that way after work tonight, saw plenty of fire engines and firefighters (mostly looking less than busy), noticed I could now walk past the scene on the south side of the road (which wasn't possible earlier) but that some of the nearby main roads were still closed to cars, saw that some smoke was coming out of the roof but less than before, noticed that there were some holes in the roof where the smoke was coming out, took a couple more photos (though sadly my iPhone wouldn't let me get a good shot of the roof damage at that height and in that light), then came home to update this story. Thanks! What's the name of that handy template that allows you to have a slideshow of images rather than be limited to a gallery or thumbnails? Bencherlite (talk) 16:46, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
