2000 soldiers[edit]

according to reuters[1], france is offering 1600 more soldiers in addition to the 400 already in lebanon, bringing the total to 2000. not "2000 more troops", as stated in the article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Doldrums (talkcontribs) 00:53 (GMT+05:30), 25 August 2006

reuters is wrong, read the statement, 2 battalions are to be send (2000 soldiers), 1700 are already suporting UNIFIL and will stay, 100 (or 200) or so are in place as UNIFIL Jacques Divol 20:10, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Le Monde also mentions 1 600 men. The formulation used by Chirac also suggests a 1 600 strong reinforcement : he says "2 000" because the number sounds more flattering, but he does say that this is the figure for the whole complement -- this is, including the 400 already in the field Rama 08:15, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is 1,600 more troops bringing the total promised to 2,000. Dan100 (Talk) 11:15, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
