This is a good example of what you should be doing with allegations/speculation/opinions. This one is clearly attributed to the man who said it, al-Assad. I'm a little leery of a couple of other passages that aren't as clear-cut. The sentence ending "causing widespread Middle Eastern conflict" makes me uncomfortable, although I'm not sure why; perhaps because it appears as though these two groups are by definition enemies, which I don't think is the case. I'm also unsure about "bolstered by the Syrian civil war". Has somebody said the situation in Syria is helping them? It isn't immediately clear what the Syrian connection is. Questions about the above? Ask. If possible, please address the above issues then resubmit the article for another review (by replacing {{tasks}} in the article with {{review}}). • "causing widespread Middle Eastern conflict" I don't understand why that's an issue. Clashes between Sunni, Shia, and (to a lesser extent) Kurdish people has been one of the root causes of conflict. It's mentioned in three of the sources, but, if need be, I could bring in hundreds of background sources for just that one statement. Sunni and Shia Muslims have had a history of conflict. That is one of the bases for the current Middle East situation.

I've made a number of extensive changes, and am consequently disqualified from review.

My hope is that perhaps the changes I've made may be useful in illustrating some of the problems that existed and how they might have been approached differently.

Because I was concentrating on details as I entered the source-check, I'm aware of having lost track of the big picture of this story, and am now saturated; I fear the article may not do well at portraying the story as a whole, but I can't tell atm; and I fear I'm also too close to see whether I've introduced new problems.
