Upload image locally?[edit]

The image that is currently used displays the status of the Lisbon Treaty at this moment. The image, however, will be updated once Ireland/Poland/Czech Republic will deposit the signing in Rome. Thus for our news article, the image shouldn't change(!) Can we use an older uploaded image from the commons or should we upload this image locally as well? Indeed, the image now makes no sense in this article. What drew this to my attention was Commons:Commons talk:File naming#"If a diagram or map shows the status on a given date, it should not be overwritten with the status on another date.". So, I tried to upload a local copy from this revision dated 3 October 2009, but wikinews keeps reporting this internal error. In any case Wiki news suggests uploading a copy on Commons which does not help here as the news article source is now closed. What a mess. -84user (talk) 01:20, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Update I managed to upload the correct revision of the image at File:Treaty of Lisbon ratification on 2009 October 3.svg on Commons, so if a Wikinews admin wishes to they can update the source of this news article to use that image. -84user (talk) 02:30, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

editprotected request to fix the map image[edit]

{{editprotected}}
Please replace the image File:Treaty of Lisbon ratification.svg used with File:Treaty of Lisbon ratification on 2009 October 3.svg - a snapshot of the image at the time the news article was created. The current image is useless for this news article.

The exact edit requested is, in the first line of the source text, to change:

Image:Treaty of Lisbon ratification.svg

to this:

Image:Treaty of Lisbon ratification on 2009 October 3.svg

Done — Thanks for pointing this out. This type of problem is difficult for us to catch after the article is archived. Gopher65talk 12:34, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
