Talk:New policy at Madani High School requires non-Muslim girls to wear hijabs
Add topicI regret that I am unable to help develop this story at present, but here are some thoughts: Recent interest in the Hijab was sparked by Jack Straw
- "Jack Straw, Leader of the British House of Commons urges Muslim women to drop full veilType in the title" — Wikinews, October 6, 2006
Viel teacher should be sacked http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bradford/6050392.stm Phil Woolas, the Minister responsible for race relations has expressed his opinion in no uncertain terms despite the knowledge that the issue is going to an industrial tribunal! He was interview by Sunday Mirror - Note Ken Livingston's opinion that he believes that there should be a change and that the veil is a bit of a hurdle, the change should come from inside the community and that attempts to impose change from outside will be counterproductive.
There are two prongs here - veils in schools and imposition of quotas on faith schools to take other and non faith pupils.Legislation on the way.
My own opinion as journalist - there's a lot more mileage in these two aspects - too much for the limited time I have, but I hope many will contribute to this - see the links in the BBC's page above.

[edit]{{editprotected}} Comma placement after Muslim headscarf: "The hijab, or "Muslim headscarf", is an item of clothing which is..." May seem like nitpicking, but I just thought I'd bring it up. Also, the related news article was published on October 6, not October 8. Tyrol5 (talk) 01:35, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
