Talk:Polyurethane plastic substitute can biodegrade in seawater, say scientists
Add topicDiscrete event: Last time I checked, it was the fact of publication
[edit]Note to the review team: The discrete event is the fact that the paper was published. That's what Pi zero and a few others worked out a few years ago for science news on Wikinews. The date of publication is what we've been using to determine the date of the event and which sources count as good. Science news differs from other news in that there is almost always a lag, sometimes a multi-year lag, between the important event itself (the discovery) and its appearance in published works that we can use as sources. There's also usually a big lag between the publication of the paper and corroboration in the mainstream science sources that don't tend to use paywalls. Wikinews is a living thing and its rules may change, but that's what I've been working with: instead of the act of discovering the information, we're using the act of presenting that information to the rest of humankind.
