Delete as not news?
[edit]No injuries or damage to report. Nothing happened with this, so I tagged it as notnews. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 03:58, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Agreed that no damages takes place but, it still's a news and should be thankfull to GOD that however that much big earthquake hits and no damage happened, so i think it should be reported and published. Azamishaque (talk) 08:32, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Two news websites have posted the Pacific earthquake. I think that is enough to remove the {{notnews}} tag. Thoughts? --InfantGorilla (talk) 15:58, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed. Gears of War 2 23:12, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- Just because other news agencies report on it, does not necessarily mean its news. I still say because there was literally nothing to come out of this, that its not news. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 23:49, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- So a earth quake isnt news. Last time I checked a natural dissaster is news plus these are shorts dude. It doesnt have to be super alaberant.(excuse spelling). Gears of War 2 02:31, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think we can report on occurrences in the environment that didn't impact people. With objections limited to one person, I am assuming consensus and removing the {{notnews}} tag. --InfantGorilla (talk) 12:03, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- ps at least 36 websites published the newswire http://news.google.co.uk/nwshp?ncl=1294470984&scoring=d --InfantGorilla (talk) 12:05, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Brunch
[edit]I removed the medical emergency during brunch due to the full article, US Senator Ted Kennedy collapses during inaugural luncheon. --SVTCobra 02:49, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Fact checking
[edit]For the earthquake magnitudes I chose to use the figures from the USGS site, as these were tagged as updated Jan 20, and "reviewed by a seismologist". These differ from the news and wire services numbers that were issued earlier. --InfantGorilla (talk) 14:17, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Gabon helicopter crash
[edit]I removed this story due to the existence of a full article: Seven dead, one missing, two survive French helicopter crash off Gabon coast. I knew it sounded familiar. --SVTCobra 16:58, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- Pardon me, I missed that. Thanks. Sadly we know now that the missing soldier was found dead. --InfantGorilla (talk) 20:09, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
