I am sorry that the request descended into chaos. I do not see any point in keeping it open. I have removed the permission from your account and closed the request. Please don't be disheartened but do keep contributing and make another request after a bit more experience (as that seems to be the main objection at this time). - I made the request with no expectation of getting it or not, I just wanted to help out. If the community sees it that I am not the right person at the right time, that's a decision I'll respect. I do not want controversy, my goal was not to rock the boat, I just see endless problems with this wiki and no-one coming up with any solutions that people will actually accept.
- // If one person being busy is enough to completely destroy this site's output, surely the goal should shift to training people on how to review. I sincerely don't think I'd ever be ready to fully review articles without someone stepping in to provide guidance over the first few. At the moment, the system requires you to have knowledge that you can't easily acquire, as more and more articles rot in the corner. It pains me to see people's work going from the jotter straight into the bin because no-one here has the time to review articles. And that's a chronic problem that's not going to be resolved by not giving people who want to help the tools and information they need.
- // If the current reviewers want to help, I think the best course of action would be for them to write down EVERYTHING they do while reviewing, maybe even make a video or article about their whole process, and then allowing people to learn from how things are meant to work. Being given questions whose answers are hidden in page after page of policy and opinion pieces, without any reference to that anywhere else, is counterproductive and is going to leave this website in the same mess it's already in.
- That's the bulk of my opinion about this. A.S. Thawley (talk) (calendar) 19:24, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
....with the one I choose not to name. This entire pile of STINK has very little to do with you and shouldn't leave ANY fragrance on you. An Administrator (me) who has been here for about 16 years acted a hair faster than would've been advisable. Your only crime was (as I've mentioned) being a bit of an eager beaver. My action to make you a Reviewer has been overridden, closed and archived. There could've been some work arounds on that, but I digress. Please -- do not run away. Your presence here is needed and valued. Keep getting the news. Keep reporting the news. That is the absolute bedrock of what we do here. I am sorry if any of this has caused you anxiety/grief or whatever.
Heck... I might nominate you for Reviewer down the road! I am serious: Don't run away. Contact me on my talk page or even via email if I can help you in some manner. Keep at it!--Bddpaux (talk) 18:05, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
- Hiya, I know I didn't do anything wrong, I just hate watching controversy bring out the worst in people. I need a few weeks to recompose myself after this whole mess, and then I'll come back. A.S. Thawley (talk) (calendar) 19:12, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
- We are all volunteers here. Good things happen at this place, I promise. Please come back soon.--Bddpaux (talk) 19:25, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
- I've been here long enough to see the good that can come out of it. I'm not being scared off by this whole mess — tensions get high when people care about things, especially when people have conflicting opinions. I don't think less of any individual or of the project as a whole because of everyone having different ideas, even if those different ideas ended up coming out quite explosively. We're all in this for the same reasons, at the end of the day: to share and report on things that matter to us. A.S. Thawley (talk) (calendar) 19:29, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I don't want to overshare, but I'm going through a lot right now (not related to anything going on here) and I don't need to have my emails and notifications filled with arguing, so this is a preemptive note that if you have anything to debate, please take it somewhere else. I've already said my piece and now I need a bit of time to sit back and process. I'm okay expanding or clarifying anything I've already said, but any discussion not directly related to me should please stay somewhere else. Cheers. A.S.
