Time to get writing!

Points to remember

The competition page is here. Remember, you'll need to move from the newcomers to experienced section as the competition progresses.

Everyone who's new to Wikinews remind yourselves of the article guide and style guide. And, use the Enter an article tab in this template to correctly start your competition articles.

Getting Help

Possibly the fastest way to get help is to look for the regulars in the #wikinews IRC channel on Freenode. See this page for more details. Remember, many people will lurk, connected long-term, but not regularly checking for messages. Please be patient when looking for answers to queries, it can be annoying to see someone ask a question but leave before you notice it.

Wikinews Writing Contest Newsletter

Jan 2010 Writing Contest Prize Winner!

Dendodge: Do to the first and fourth place winners in the Jan 2010 Writing Contest declining to claim their prizes for privacy reasons, you have won the third place prize in the first writing contest of 2010! Congratulations! Third prize is 10 Canadian dollars (about the same as 7 quid right now). So... errr... the equivalent to me buying you a digital coffee I guess? ;) Prize transfer via PayPal is preferred. If you have a PayPal account, please send me the email address linked to that account via email: Special:Emailuser/gopher65. If you do not have a PayPal account I've decided that I am willing to send out personal checks, contrary to what I said in the prize rules section. If you wish to use this option, please send your name, full address, postal/zip code, and country name to the email linked above. Note that this option requires more personal information than PayPal (which just needs an email address), so PayPal is the preferred option. Please respond on my user page if you wish to claim your prize, or not. Again, congratulations, and great work! :) Gopher65talk 02:49, 24 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Award

I was meaning to give this to you a while ago. The Election Night Barnstar is for your excellent work helping updating the results at 2010 UK general election results and pulling off an all-nighter to keep it current. Many thanks! Tempodivalse [talk] 16:40, 8 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Bawolff vote RFP

Can you please indicate more clearly, whether this is a Support or Oppose? Thank you, -- Cirt (talk) 19:44, 11 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Autosight

I'm taking that you didn't notice that we turned off auto-sight. You failed to sight your (post-publish) article move. --RockerballAustralia c 12:38, 27 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

And as for the rubberstam comments - I do no such thing. I do the reviews properly and openly admit to making the odd mistake. --RockerballAustralia c 12:46, 27 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Raoul Moat

I re-used your writing here UK fugitive Raoul Moat kills himself. I would be delighted if you could help. --InfantGorilla (talk) 13:58, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy correction notice review please?

Could I impose on you and ask you to review the correction notice I posted on RAF UFO encounters may have been covered up by Churchill and Eisenhower please? --InfantGorilla (talk) 11:50, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Done. It all looked good to me. Δενδοδγε τ\c 11:52, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I got positive responses back from the author and the original reviewer, so I think we've done right here by retracting today. --InfantGorilla (talk) 12:15, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
