Don't be too far away. irid:t 20:46, 18 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think I will give it another try. I just see that there is a lot of work that needs to be done in the area of collaboration aka ediquette. We need to realize the first and foremost goal of Wikinews is to write news. What we thnik of a user should have no baring on what we report. If attacks and the type of collaboration cannot change, then I will take a permenant Wikibreak. But I think things can be fixed. Hopefully I am right. Jason Safoutin 19:04, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Welcome template

[edit]

That welcoming template you gave me is so cheesy. Also, it said to get an account, my account is an account. It thanked me for my contributions, I don't have any contributions. I would suggest to change it a little. Thank you. GeorgeMoney 23:50, 18 April 2006 (UTC), wikipedia:User:GeorgeMoneyReply

Hi

[edit]

Just wanted to say hello, and thanks for the little welcome thingy! I've been editing at Wikipedia for a while, but hadn't made the switch to Wikinews until I felt the need to edit the baseball scores. Anyway, just felt like saying hello - you sounded interesting, and your 'views and beliefs' page seemed pretty cool, so that was that really.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll see me round - in the Australia, TV, Baseball and LGBT sections. Until then, adios! Rebel prince 03:31, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

rv vandalism on Eloquence page

[edit]

What are you doing? -Edbrown05 05:30, 21 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you look at the edit history of the user and the copy and past vandalism he left on Ral's page, you will see we have been reverting the edits of the open proxie for quite some time. Jason Safoutin 05:31, 21 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I didn't see any vandalism, did you? -Edbrown05 05:37, 21 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I can name just 2 policies off the top of my head that statement violted: WN:NOT, theatre of war/personal attacks WN:E...and likely others. But since I am off to bed, I wiull have to look for those later. In the mean time, as far as I am concerned, any open proxy is considered vandalization...and in this situation, IMO and the opinion of others, including Chiacomo and Amgine (who just protected the page) this is vandalism. Jason Safoutin 05:41, 21 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Mmmm. I've blocked the open proxies because that's the policy. I'd like to see a day when people *Can* edit from open proxies. I really suspect that some already do so regularly. I have edited (while logged in) from a proxy before, though it's not my habit. The most recent spate of edits, to Eloquence's page, for example, isn't really vandalism in my opinion, but rather someone trying to discuss something with the community. Unfortunately, the method they're using to post isn't permitted. Some of the edits earlier today *were* personal attacks, etc... I'm not sure this one is -- especially on a talk page. --Chiacomo (talk) 05:45, 21 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I really don't care in what form it comes from, rather in what shape it takes. Vandalism was far from what I noticed. -Edbrown05 05:50, 21 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Reporter:

[edit]

The synopsis you wrote under your comment section is as cool as it gets in reporting what happened during the, okay I'll say it, 'wheel war' (even though I dislike it) --> Wikinews:Requests for arbitration. I thought I'd have to step through all that to understand what you reported. Can't tell you how much that's appreciated. -Edbrown05 07:46, 22 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I didn't mean I didn't like your your summary (because that instinct to report comes so natural to you), what I meant was that the term 'wheel war' is bounce for me. -Edbrown05 09:38, 23 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agree...I am not sure why it would be called a "wheel war". I didn't think that a arbcom case would come out of this...or at least so quick. Jason Safoutin 11:28, 23 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikinews2 on IRC

[edit]

There is a new IRC channel on irc.freenode.net and its called wikinews2. Its purpose is simple: This channel is for non-news related chat and for Wikinewsies to talk about everyday life with other Wikinewsies. I am hoping this channel will allow us to get along better and encourage people to be more friendly. Everyone is encouraged to come on in :)

Just log onto the IRC freenode server and type: /j wikinews2 :) Jason Safoutin 02:05, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well done, Jason! Well done! Lord of Deletion 22:37, 25 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wow, thanks for an excellent story. Best regards. -Edbrown05 23:31, 25 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

For the sake of fact checking, could you please email me with your quoted correspondence used in the City of Buffalo, N.Y. fighting lawsuit against hotel proposal, per it's discussion page invitation. Best regards :) Edbrown05 04:49, 29 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for responding Jason. I meant to check my spam mailbox for your reply (all new senders to me somehow end up there, as the filter setting is very high). Your post on my talk page jogged me look while I was getting likely to forget again, and now your mail is marked so it won't be filtered. I reponded to the info. you sent me on the discussion page of City of Buffalo, N.Y. fighting lawsuit against hotel proposal. Best regards. -Edbrown05 00:50, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Old and maybe rare books

[edit]

I have 2 books here that are quite old and look rare. The one I am most interested in is: The Wonderful Career of Moody and Sankey in Great Britain and America by: the Rev. E. J. Goodspeed and it was published, according to the print in 1876. There are several lithographs in the book and the first one is even covered in tissue paper :) I am looking for a value on this book or some more information about it. So far it looks like a 1st edition? The cover is also fabric. Jason Safoutin 13:21, 26 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The pictures are called "steel plate"...it has in the front a steel plate portrait of Mr. Moody and it has 12 other "engravings from original drawings." Jason Safoutin 13:23, 26 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank You

[edit]

I would, also, like to thank you for your welcome. I will need time to read through all the introductory material before I begin to contribute. I wish to be bold, but not foolhearty.

Suggestions are welcome, ContentmentCoach 19:43, 30 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
