Welcome[edit]

Firefighter04, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Daniel 05:11, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

publishing articles[edit]

hi, thank you for contributing to Wikinews. pls do see Wikinews:Writing an article to get an idea of the Wikinews guidelines and processes, or check out some of the published articles. best, –Doldrums(talk) 05:49, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please pay attention to tags placed on articles. Home page sites are not a source. See your welcome message to learn how an article should be written. DragonFire1024 05:57, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I see this has been brought up before with you... Let me re-iterate. Sources must be properly formatted using the {{source}} template, articles cannot be published with a single source due to concerns about plagiarism, and you need to work with the community to become a more effective contributor. --Brian McNeil / talk 20:20, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

You have been blocked for 1 hour for ignoring repeated talk page messages. Please take this "cool of period" to read the messages left here, and to read the above Welcome Message on how to write an article.

The "sources" you list for your articles are not sources. They are a link to the main page of that particular site. Please use a direct link to the articles you are reading. DragonFire1024 06:13, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

prepared to unblock.[edit]

here's how sources should be listed on Wikinews. btw, if you post a message here saying you've seen the messages here and agree to not publish articles without checking to see if they are acceptable per our guidelines, i'm prepared to unblock you immediately. you can tag an article as {{ready}} to indicate that you think the article's ready for publishing, and another user can then change it to publish after confirming that this is indeed the case. –Doldrums(talk) 06:18, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will check articles to see if they meet the requirements put forth by Wikinews. Firefighter04 06:56, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ok. have unblocked. i would urge you to use the {{ready}} tag instead of publishing your first couple of articles. –Doldrums(talk) 07:06, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This story is not yet ready to publish. Please do not republish until it is. --SVTCobra 17:34, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you view the story now, I hope you can see the difference. You have to keep in mind that Wikinews addresses a global audience. Minor league and linedrive, don't mean anything to many people. You have to explain that it is baseball. Also, Tulsa and North Little Rock, are cities that are not known to people around the world. The states and even the country have to be mentioned. Sorry to take so long to reply. Cheers, and happy editing. --SVTCobra 22:37, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
