Welcome back

I am sorry I haven't time to review your two new articles : they look very interesting. --InfantGorilla (talk) 16:53, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the welcome. Gryllida 23:17, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

user page edits

Generally it's considered rude to edit someone else's userpage, without their express permission. - Amgine | t 22:47, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I have left a note about my edit at the user's talk page. Gryllida 23:22, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Collaborative news on quippd

Hey, I noticed that you are an active Wikinews contributer, and I hoped that you could help out on another collaborative community edited project.

I run quippd, a collaboratively edited social news site, which mixes elements of Wikis, social networking, and social news sites. You can get some more information about what we are doing at: http://quippd.com/about/intro

Basically, we want to get good coverage on news stories, collaboratively edited, just like Wikinews. We are trying to take the ideas of WikiFactCheck -- to make news less biased and speedier (unlike something like Wikinews). By combining social elements to the project, we hope to bring the benefits of wiki enabled fact checking and npov ideas to the masses.

I hope you check us out -- and feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. Even if you don't join, I would highly appreciate your feedback as a Wikinews editor, especially if you have any suggestions to improve wikified news sites like wikinews and quippd.

Here is an example article that we have edited on quippd, just so you have an idea of how we are currently different from Wikinews.

GAH! Advertising at my talk page! Many social networking websites include forums, friends following features, blogging, digging, voting, and lots of fun. I am pleased to see that you value my contributions to Wikinews, but I'm staying here for the very reason of this project being more serious. Thank you for your friendly suggestion, but since denying social networking, I have to decline your offer. I'm sorry for that.. Welcome to Wikinews! Gryllida 03:51, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for considering it. :) Yoasif (talk) 03:53, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

<grin> Thanks for the expansion! The article should have been titled in a way to show it was intended to be a news-short, intended for inclusion in Wikinews Shorts: September 2, 2010. The title probably should have been In brief: Abducted British girl and mother may be in Toronto.

I'm trying to build a process to write very quick, very brief news articles of one paragraph, with the sources linked on the talk page so the Wikinews Short page (where it will be transcluded) won't end up with a == Sources == for every brief article.

As you can see, the news brief is now a full-length article, which is one of the other goals - produce a 'lede paragraph' which could be copy/pasted into a new, full-length article (possibly re-using the title sans the "In brief:"). Now that's it's full-length, though, it should probably be removed from the shorts aggregation article.

It's been a great experiment; thanks for showing me one of the weak points of the process! - Amgine | t 02:09, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A belated Thanks!
