Wikinews

Hi Gryllida,

this link was broken - but it should be fixed now (though I have no idea if English Wikinews articles are accepted in fr.WP - so far no one reverted me ;)

Thanks a lot for the news article - especially the images are a valuable addition for all projects.

Rbrausse (talk) 17:41, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing the link. You might want to open the research page at the bottom of the article and interview the professor in French by e-mail (or even in person if you arrange a meeting!), if you like. It is his native language and you would add your interview to French Wikinews. --Gryllida 19:54, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

...for edits in Armenian story. I found the story had some issues and - before I had time to repair it, it is done! Thanks a lot for a constructive a collaborative approach. BirchTreeMountain (talk) 19:52, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That one is an interesting event and the story was a pleasure to read. You're welcome. Gryllida 21:49, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your wise words and guidance on the New York payphone story. I am just starting out here and really appreciate your advice. Streeteyes (talk) 5 February 2013

Unfortunately it's probably pretty unlikely to help it get published: there is no news event in the topic which would be recent enough. But as your story is marked as Original Reporting, it won't be deleted but will be moved to your user namespace. It is a unique contest and I'd be happy if someone could visit the March 5 event, take pictures, make notes. Write about it here as soon as it's possible after that. If you could do that and/or get your friends to do that, it would be great: Original reporting (aka citizen journalism) stories authored by multiple journalists are allowed and welcome. That can be an interesting and rewarding activity. --Gryllida 20:37, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request for reviewing and other assistance

Hi. Next week is the start of the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships and two Wikinewies will be attending to cover the para-alpine skiing ahead of the 2014 Winter Paralympics . This is part of an effort outlined at Wikinews:IPC Alpine Ski World Championships. Immediately following this event, there will be a Meetup in Barcelona where Wikinews, the Paralympics and efforts to similar sport coverage will be discussed. At the moment, there are only two active reviewers on a daily basis. Demonstrating an ability to get reviews for these types of events done quickly is important for Wikinews credibility and gaining access to these types of events. I would really appreciate it if you could sign up on the IPC World Championship page to review, promote articles published during this period, assist in translating these articles into another language or attend the meetup in Barcelona. Thanks. --LauraHale (talk) 09:30, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think I'll take a note of the names of people involved after the events are complete, not before; I don't know which group (c/e or reviewers) I would belong to in the first place. Thanks for the note. Gryllida 20:32, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A last try

An European Citizens' Initiative want Ecocide to become a crime don't speak about launching anymore (not even the date), i have erase some sources and i have try to improve my grammar, the lede awns at who : Prisca Merz, when : verb+ing for now, what : End Ecocide is an European Citizens' initiative, how : getting a million signatures, why : to criminalizes the ecocide, where : the European Commission in Brussels. But this time i haven't put Review. Azariel (talk) 00:28, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, can't help you there: the event didn't happen within last week. Hope you pick something else - something recent and try working on it while it's still fresh. Look for "European Commission funded project CoolEmAll to develop datacentre toolkit" for example - does it look interesting to you? Gryllida 00:35, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have try to read it on google but i don't understand enought well. Azariel (talk) 20:37, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A few to think of:

  • Find several websites with news on the topics that interest you.
  • If something looks interesting but hasn't been covered well -- journalists writing news in a sensational rather than neutral and informative style is not too uncommon -- grab a few sources (news.google.com can help to search for them) and write a multi-sources article (WN:SYNTH).
  • If something looks interesting but is a research or otherwise an event someone can be interviewed about, head over to the publication or more information about the person and send them a few questions by e-mail (WN:OR).
  • Be vary of article types; Wikinews articles are not press releases or editorials. (This one should be pretty easy).
  • A few headlines to consider:
    • "Charge HGVs for climate pollution, says European Environment Agency"
    • "Boom in German lessons as Europe's jobless head north"
    • "Germany Blasted for Role in Europe's Crisis"
    • "Europe may help with China its space station"
    • or just go to any popular news site, type a term which interests you and pick something from today or yesterday.

Hi!

Hi, I think you have a faulty script or something -> [1]. I have reverted. Snowolf How can I help? 11:59, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I think that ...I didn't sight the change? I was trying to edit a user's page at that moment... --Gryllida 12:05, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, it is not a first time I was doing that. Interesting. --Gryllida 12:07, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've posted a temporary-patch suggestion in w:User talk:Cacycle/wikEd#Forwards to editing Main Page without asking. -- Codicorumus  « msg 20:03, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Hi Gryllida,

Sorry about the mix up with the animal cruelty story. I haven't quite mastered how to use wikinews yet. Thanks for your feedback and help! --Campbelltaylor18 (talk) 06:30, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's been a pleasure to work on the story: it simply needed a bit more work on the lede. Thank you too. Gryllida 06:36, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I am using your talk page to request sppedy review of the article I have created - KKR wins innagural IPL-VI match, RCB the second. I am requesting it's speedy review since if the article isn't published soon, it will soon lose it's relevance due to outdated information. So please consider reviewing the article and tell me the problems in them (if any).
Thanking You

Thank you. Please take a look here. - Jayadevp13 (talk) 14:57, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Turns out your news was not reviewed quickly enough to be published. I had to avoid it, because I would be unable to perform a high-quality review of a topic I'm not familiar with enough to fact-check it within a reasonable time frame. Sorry. Gryllida 11:39, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rainbow of protesting gains international support

MountaineerUOW (talk) 08:05, 16 April 2013 (UTC) Hi Gryllida, you reviewed my 'rainbow crossing' piece yesterday...I was wondering if you would mind looking over it again to see whether it's ready to publish? I'm keen to hear your feedback. Thank you.[reply]

  • Hi, sorry, this does not address the concerns here so not yet. They have to be handled before re-submitting the story for review; by all means you're welcome to ask questions to ensure timely progress of your work. Gryllida 08:13, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
