Add topicWelcome (and jest)
[edit]Oh, sure, a few minutes after I add cash to the Wikinews:Writing contest prizes, Slowking Man shows up! <grin> Welcome to the other dark side, SKM. - Amgine 08:27, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Mwahaha! I don't think I'll be able to attempt the contest, but I will help a bit with article upkeep. --Slowking Man 08:25, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hello Mr Man. I hope you like the place and stick around! BTW, have you thought about helping judge the writing conest if you're not going to enter? Dan100 (Talk) 17:40, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- I'd love to, but I don't have the time. I've barely edited here, and my editing time on Wikipedia has taken a big downswing lately. Too many things to do. Sorry. =\ --Slowking Man 07:13, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
New Automated System
[edit]We've been getting complaints that it's difficult to move an article from Developing stories to Latest news. In response to that, I've implemented a system where all that a user need to do to have an article display in either Developing stories or Latest news is take advantage of the {{Date}} tag (already widely implemented), and have either {{Develop}} or {{Publish}} at the bottom of the page. This is achieved through a special MediaWiki feature called DynamicPageList. And the best part is, if someone changes the title of an article, the list is automatically updated! Due to controversy over this issue, this has been disabled. However, a preview is available at Main Page/Temp (notice Developing stories and Latest news). A straw poll will be held shortly to determine if we should try out this system for a few weeks and hold a vote at the end of that time period to determine if the system worked. Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Slowking Man. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Slowking Man~enwikinews that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
