Welcome[edit]

ViperSnake151, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!--MarkTalk to me 15:17, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Templates[edit]

Why are you updating templates that will be deleted? NC and ND are not allowed on Wikinews. --Brian McNeil / talk 18:59, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've previously speedily deleted this image and others not permitted by the Foundation resolution and was met by a reasonable level of opposition which resulted in me restoring the images as an interim measure. Please let the WN:DR discussion decide what happens with this image. Adambro (talk) 20:40, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just a comment re: copyright licenses[edit]

A document released under one version of a license, for example CC-by-nd_2.0, is not licensed under, as an example, CC-by-nd_2.5. An image licensed as CC-by-nd might very well also meet WN:FU. This isn't to say the community is willing to keep the images, merely to point out that your template forwarding may be incorrect in some cases and should probably, instead, be done on a case-by-case basis in my opinion. - Amgine | t 23:55, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think you'll find, if you read the WN:FU, that Wikinews has a very different approach to Fair Use images. Please consider that Wikinews is not the same as Wikipedia, and respect those differences. - Amgine | t 00:03, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm examining your edits in chronological fashion. I'm sure you understand. - Amgine | t 02:30, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You may wish to note that Wikinews speedy deletion policy now has at least three shortcuts, I suppose at least one for every name change it's been through. It's also one of the few I didn't have a hand in writing initially. - Amgine | t 02:45, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You added this template, which refers to Wikipedia policies. If we are to keep it, is should be modified appropriately. --SVTCobra 15:06, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Roundbox[edit]

I am not sure what you intend with roundbox, but if it is in response to imbox and the reception it received, I ask that you be patient and wait a while. We are a small project and need time for talk to develop. I see that you already found the watercooler discussion. Cheers, --SVTCobra 00:24, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think you are wasting energy on something where you will be vindicated in importing templates. Of course, that is just my opinion. If you feel the tides are swinging the other way, then, go ahead. --SVTCobra 00:39, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Roundbox[edit]

Can I suggest that you do not switch lots of major templates to roundbox before the community have said its OK. Although the new template was some good coding, I still prefer the designs produced by ambox. Anonymous101 :) 19:52, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New design(s) looks fine to me. Adambro (talk) 19:54, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: old template is better?[edit]

sorry, didn't realize it only applied to image namespace. Have reverted. Anonymous101 :) 13:45, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There doesn't seem to be any evidence to suggest that the Flickr photo has any relation to the incident described in the article. In fact, considering the article is dated September 3, 2007 and the image on Flickr in August 2006 this would suggest this is very unlikely to be related. I'll therefore be reverting your change to the image page. Regards. Adambro (talk) 14:45, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

article templates/flags[edit]

Thanks for your work in updating these. However, I think the use of the small font is overdone. Some of the instructions that were made "small" are rather important. I won't revert, but that's just my opinion. --SVTCobra 00:08, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't use a general {{FU}} tag as you've done on this image. Fair use isn't allowed on Wikinews except in circumstances allowed by the fair use white list. Therefore, each image should be tagged with an appropriate template indicating under which criteria it is being used such as {{publicity}}, {{logo}}, or {{screenshot}} etc. In the case of this image I don't think it can be used according to the whitelist and therefore should probably be nominated for deletion along with the {{FU}} which seems open to misuse. Regards. Adambro (talk) 15:44, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: I noted that {{FU}} is in turn used by other templates such as those I've highlighted above, therefore whilst it shouldn't be deleted because of this, it shouldn't be used directly and so I'll be working to change this to an appropriate template or nominate for deletion where I find this impossible. Adambro (talk) 15:46, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I replied to your comment on the talk page, here. We don't generally use dispute tags on published articles; we discuss on the talk page, and implement solutions either by editing the article (if within 24 hours after publication) or by adding a {{correction}} tag. --Pi zero (talk) 16:41, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
