Flow

What do you think on replacing Wikinews' LiquidThreads with Flow (Structured Discussions)? After all, LiquidThreads is outdated, and does not integrate well with features like the notification system.

But keep in mind that Flow isn't perfect either, and I don't know how good LQT's admin options are.

We discussed this as a community some time back (including Wikinewsie emeritus bawolff). The sense was that Flow would be a Really Bad Idea, even worse than LQT (which we love to hate, although it also came out in that discussion that LQT is genuinely better for its purpose than were the ordinary wiki pages Wikinews used for the purpose before switching to LQT).

My own personal opinion of Flow, overall, is that it's a horrendous blunder by the Foundation, both bad design in principle from beginning to end, and bad policy as it seeks to undermine the primary technical asset of the sisterhood, wiki markup. (I have btw some interest in trying, eventually, to construct an unambiguously superior dialog-based replacement for LQT.) --Pi zero (talk) 02:05, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
