  • Some suggestions to improve technique:
    • Aim to write individual synthesis sentences that draw on multiple source passages, either multiple passages far form each other in a source, or better yet, multiple passages from different sources.
    • Don't follow the sentence structure of a source; rearrange the ordering of ideas within a source passage. Leaving out a few of the less important ideas from a source passage helps.
    • Watch out for 'paraphrase' that actually changes the meaning from what the sources said.
  • In my role as reviewer, my edits have been to remove material (mainly distance from source, unverified, brevity for clarity), reorder passages for distance from sources, and surgically clarify/correct a few presented facts.
