How do I temporarily lock my talk page?
There is a global pandemic on and I don't have the emotional reserves for the sort of comments I'm getting. How do I temporarily lock my talk page so that if someone calls me names or badgers me on this site, at least it's not on a page that's going to send me an email each time? I do not want someone else to do it for me. I do not want to just shut off email alerts.
I realize everyone's tense these days, but people are using me for a punching bag and I did not sign up for that. Darkfrog24 (talk) 15:28, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- Not replying to people would do. Gryllida (talk) 15:42, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- That would only encourage people to dump themselves on my talk page, and I don't like that. Darkfrog24 (talk) 15:53, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- That IP did the same thing. And that is what I reverted, for which you asserted it was an overkill.

Welcome a bit: new release
The User:Gryllida/welcome a bit tool has had a new release:
- added 'review' category notifications (type '/r') (this is in alpha testing - useful for all reviewers)
- fixed a bug with list of categories in wiki delivery
- fixed a bug with empty delivery when all news is already delivered
Please test.
Also if you are signed up but you have not received notifications for a while, please let me know.
Thank you. --Gryllida (talk) 05:37, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Site notice
The "Know of something happening today? Request an article about it now." message didn't seem to make an impact. Would someone be interested in replacing it with something like this?
- "Like reading news often? Subscribe here to receive new published articles, or to get involved in editing new drafts before publication."
From technical perspective, additions of new subscribers are currently manual. I hope if there is large interest then I will be able to include this in the program.
If it is interesting, I can remove references to my name in it and address these messages to the talk page of the bot account (User:Trigonidiida).

The Editing team has been working on the talk pages project. The goal of the talk pages project is to help contributors communicate on wiki more easily. This project is the result of the Talk pages consultation 2019.
The team is building a new tool for replying to comments now. This early version can sign and indent comments automatically. Please test the new Reply tool.
- On 31 March 2020, the new reply tool was offered as a Beta Feature editors at four Wikipedias: Arabic, Dutch, French, and Hungarian. If your community also wants early access to the new tool, contact User:Whatamidoing (WMF).
- The team is planning some upcoming changes. Please review the proposed design and share your thoughts on the talk page. The team will test features such as:
- an easy way to mention another editor ("pinging"),
- a rich-text visual editing option, and
- other features identified through user testing or recommended by editors.
To hear more about Editing Team updates, please add your name to the "Get involved" section of the project page. You can also watch these pages: the main project page, Updates, Replying, and User testing.

Requesting help for frwikinews
We created the template "bienvenue" inspired by template:Howdy/content but the tabs doesn't work anymore. Do you have a little hint for me ? Thanks. --SleaY (talk) 00:26, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- @SleaY: the template works using some custom code in MediaWiki:Common.js and MediaWiki:Common.css (search for "tabber") but I would recommend against just copying that over, because it would be better to use templatestyles for the formatting. --DannyS712 (talk) 00:50, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
