Category talk:Prime ministers of Pakistan
Add topicInternal?
[edit]@SVTCobra: Does this make sense as an internal category? Any person belonging to this category would also belong to Category:Politicians, which is already a subcat of Category:People by occupation. Is it useful to have an additional category just for a list of people who have been PM of Pakistan? On the other hand, once upon a time our articles often wikilinked titles like "President (of <country>)", "Prime Minister (of <country>)", etc. There are, in fact, three articles in our archives that try to link to "Prime Minister of Pakistan"; and there are likely to be another half dozen that will try to link to it once once updated to use {{w}} (estimate based on our having done about seven thousand out of 21 thousand articles). So there's a market for such categories as local targets; but we don't locally target internal cats, we target categories of articles.
If we populated this category with articles, what articles would we put in it? --Pi zero (talk) 19:07, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
- I was scratching my head a bit, too. But since it had no articles and only people, I just went with it. Easier than sifting through the archives and finding every mention of a prime minister of Pakistan. Another alternative is to get rid of it because we don't have the equivalent category for other countries. Cheers, --SVTCobra 19:12, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
- I will say, though, a person can belong to more than one of the 'People by occupation' categories. One can be a 'Politician', a 'Lawyer' and a 'Businesspeople' all at the same time. One can also be 'Sportspeople' and 'Actor' and 'Politician'. --SVTCobra 19:16, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
- As a subcat of People by occupation, this should be plural. I'll just take care of that... --Pi zero (talk) 23:46, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
- Turns out I'd already done a trial run on the logistics of an "internal topic", a category not meant for articles but targeted by one or more mainspace redirects. Was at Category:Astronauts, which I further improved and applied here. --Pi zero (talk) 01:47, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- Cool. Speaking of astronauts, should they be in category 'NASA' when applicable? --SVTCobra 01:50, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- @SVTCobra: Yes, I'd say so. --Pi zero (talk) 01:54, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
